Application deadline: August 7, 2022

Henie Onstad Kunstsenter is a platform for Norwegian and international art, with a diverse exhibition schedule spanning modernism, avant-garde, and contemporary art. Henie Onstad, Norway’s first privately financed contemporary art center, inaugurated in 1968 and holds a collection of over 8,000 works. Since then, it has been a strong supporter of new kinds of artistic expression, with a diverse music, dance, and performance program. At all levels of the organization, diversity and equality are promoted.

Henie Onstad has an amazing art collection as well as an international exhibition program. The art center is at a pivotal point in its evolution, with a slew of major projects currently in the works. The institution is looking for a new director to guide the center toward its new, lofty aims.

Henie Onstad’s new director should have a passion for art and culture, as well as a desire to contribute to the collection’s and exhibition program’s further development. The center’s new leader should be proactive and visionary, with a natural flair for creating relationships and sound business judgment.

The ideal applicant is dedicated to maintaining Henie Onstad’s history and enhancing the center’s reputation as a desirable destination for art, culture, and relaxation. This necessitates a knowledge of the center’s visitors and programming that will appeal to a broad audience, as well as an eye for the strategic potential presented by the center’s wonderful position.

The ideal candidate will have significant leadership experience as well as a good understanding of art history. It is advantageous to have knowledge about and interest in public-private funding. Henie Onstad can provide attractive terms and conditions, a highly qualified and professional work environment, and a workspace in lovely natural settings at Hvikodden, 10 minutes from Oslo by vehicle.
