Phileas was founded in Vienna in 2014, and is supported by the contributions of private individuals, the Austrian Federal Ministry of Arts, Culture, Civil Service and Sport, and the City of Vienna.

Phileas runs an active Visitor Programme, inviting international curators, art critics and museum groups to Austria throughout the year to visit artists’ studios, galleries, museums and foundations.

Phileas produces an annual series of artist monographs and supports publication projects of its international collaboration partners.

Phileas recently opened an exhibition space in the heart of Vienna, providing a window into its international activities and a meeting place for talks, screenings, performances and other public events.
