Barcelona Symposium 2022 presented by Talking Galleries

October 3–4, 2022

The ninth Barcelona Symposium will take place in the MACBA museum on October 3 and 4, 2022, according to Talking Galleries, a think tank for galleries.

The Barcelona Symposium is a two-day conference, a unique space for the leading art world leaders to debate and reflect on many elements of art gallery administration and the art market at large. Gallerists, collectors, art journalists, curators, artists, and fair directors make up its broad audience, which participates in the conversation and helps to spread knowledge and expertise among all facets of the art industry.

The impact of NFTs on the gallery market, inclusivity in the art world, the vibrant Parisian art scene, the connections between biennials and art fairs, gallery practices in the secondary market, innovative projects fusing art and technology, and other important issues on the current agenda of the art industry will all be discussed.

With the participation of leading international art world figures including Ilaria Bonacossa (National Museum of Digital Art), Nicolas Bourriaud (curator and philosopher), Ellen de Bruijne (Ellen de Bruijne Projects), Mario Cristiani (Galleria Continua), Elvira Dyangani Ose (MACBA), Carles Guerra (artist, curator and art critic), Joe Kennedy (Unit London), Alex Mor (mor charpentier), Beatriz Ordovás (Christie’s Spain), Julia Peyton-Jones (Thaddaeus Ropac), Guillaume Piens (Art Paris), Alain Quemin (Université Paris-8), Andrés Reisinger (digital artist), and Jérôme Sans (Lago/Algo, Materia), who will debate alongside Andrew Goldstein (Artnet News), Paco Barragán (curator and PhD), Pau Waelder (curator and researcher / Niio), Llucià Homs (Talking Galleries) and Farah Nayeri (The New York Times), among other contributors.
