Call for applications: Rijksakademie Residency 2023/2024

Application period: September 1–October 1, 2022

The Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten welcomes applications from artists to develop their work over one or two-year periods in Amsterdam, starting from September 2023.

A highly diverse, multidisciplinary, experimental, and critically engaged artist community can be found at the Rijksakademie. Residents receive support in the form of a studio, a work budget, and a stipend in addition to a variety of interaction opportunities like peer-to-peer conversations and visits from a wide spectrum of notable artists and art professionals. They have access to a large library, a historical collection, and technical as well as social practice training. Technical experts provide direction and encourage participatory, creative, and team-based ways to making.

You are prepared to maximize these resources as an artist. You are willing to push yourself and collaborate with people in quite different roles from your own. You can stay in residence for up to two years, during which time you can develop your practices and discover new areas within and outside the realm of the arts.

Before beginning a residency at the Rijksakademie, selected artists must have at least 2-3 years of independent professional work and have completed their BA or MA studies.

There are roughly 22 openings per year. We are looking for residents for the months of September 2023 and August 2024, with an option for an additional year. The online application form is available on the website between September 1, 12 a.m., and October 1, 11:59 p.m., 2022.
