Has taking part in the resuscitation of a Contemporary Art institution always been a goal of yours? Are you a superb administrator who enjoys the operational and organizational challenges and is well-known inside your company for your strategic perspective and highly collaborative style? Do you speak French at work?
You might be the next deputy director of the Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal if these few phrases resonate with you. This is a rare chance to have a substantial influence on the institutional and architectural change of a world-class institution situated in Montreal’s Place des Arts, the center of Canada’s largest cultural hub.
In this vibrant environment, you will assume responsibility for the museum’s administration and operations as a whole, reporting directly to the Director and Chief Curator, managing both day-to-day operations and helping to shape the MAC’s future.
The Deputy Director will specifically be in charge of the following divisions: Finance and IT, Collections and documentation resources, HR, Marketing, communications, and Visitor Experience, as well as personally overseeing Security services and the numerous construction sites. The continuing architectural transformation project’s supporting operations will be managed, directed, and organized by the Deputy Director.
The Deputy Director actively participates in the strategic planning of the Museum’s orientations during this critical juncture in its history as its major transformation project gets underway and oversees the implementation of the goals set in all of the areas that fall under his or her purview.
The Deputy Director manages institutional and governmental collaborations, as well as Museum governance, and directs the management of operations for the Museum as a whole by enhancing performance and increasing efficiency in all divisions.
He or she is required to give museum senior management the strategic data required for effective, efficient, and cost-effective administration of the institution’s operations and growth. He or she actively participates in the management of the Museum as a steering committee member and makes sure that the guiding principles and strategic goals established with the Director and Chief Curator are followed and carried out.
