Since 2009, the Tenthaus Art Collective has worked in a variety of ways. Its focus is on local contexts, exploring collectivity and inclusion through various types of involvement. It is characterized by an open, process-oriented form of participation and cooperation.
Tenthaus started out as an artist-in-schools initiative in Oslo. Over a decade later, the collective continues to manage and nurture its environment while maintaining close ties with the community. It now includes a project room, an exhibition space, and a mobile studio, in addition to a variety of curatorial projects.
Tenthaus reimagines itself as a collective on a regular basis, delving into what it means to be artists working with the public and what constitutes a meaningful socially engaged practice. Each of its members brings a unique set of skills, practices, and cultural knowledge to work with discursive events, radio, research, exchanges, workshops, and exhibitions with an international focus, and the distinctive result of their collaborations and collective discussion is visible through their work.
Dag Aak Sveinar, Director of MOMENTUM and Galleri F 15, notes: “I am delighted that the artist collective Tenthaus will curate the twelfth edition of MOMENTUM, which is set to open in June 2023. Tenthaus is a socially engaged collective and we look forward to seeing how their practice interacts with the community in Moss. The coming edition will also incorporate a new approach to Alby farm, where Galleri F 15 and the F 15 studio are situated, exploring its many outbuildings and courtyards.”
About MOMENTUM
Galleri F 15 in Moss, Norway, is the current organizer and producer of the biennale, which began in 1998. MOMENTUM has continually supported compelling curatorial vision and served as a forum for investigating the exhibition format, both in the Nordic context and from a global viewpoint, for more than two decades. Since its eleventh edition, the majority of venues and sites have been on the island of Jelya, allowing MOMENTUM to deepen its interaction with nature, examine the connections between varied landscapes and local cultural heritage, and act as a catalyst for change.
