Application deadline: August 12, 2022

The Bremen University of the Arts, Hochschule für Künste (HfK), invites qualified applicants to submit an application for the position of artistic-scientific employee (f/m/d) for the curatorial and organizational support of exhibitions of the Faculty of Art and Design, particularly for the mobile exhibition ship “Dauerwelle” and the multifunctional extension building “Speicher XI A.”

Dauerwelle

The institution needs to physically expand, which it does as a result of an increase in students, courses, and public presentations. The university’s own ship, the “Dauerwelle,” is now open for business. The 53-meter-long “Dauerwelle” is a former pleasure ship that has been transformed into an exhibition space. There are also scheduled cruises along German inland waterways, lectures, talks, project presentations, concerts, and art activities at various Bremen docks. With the ship, a space has been constructed in the heart of the Hanseatic city that will accommodate many publics and function in a variety of social, aesthetic, and technological settings.

Speicher XI A

The brand-new “Speicher XI A” structure will debut in the fall and feature 1,800 square feet for multidisciplinary and experimental studio activities, a new digital/analog open-lab workshop, and a sizable multipurpose hall with space for 400 people. Both student concerts and opera performances will be able to take place there. University fashion displays will also be held on a runway under a spotlight. The room will also be transformed into an exhibition space with plenty of natural light for paintings, sculptures, and graphic arts; when completely darkened, it is the ideal setting for media works. Congresses on the HfK Bremen’s artistic subjects may also be held there. Two more halls offer studios and workshops that are well-lit and easily divided for professors and students.

Application
For more information, general conditions, and contact opportunities, please visit the job posting on the HfK homepage. If you are interested in the position, please hand in your application documents (cover letter, curriculum vitae and references) including a sketch of ideas/vision for the mobile exhibition space “Dauerwelle” and/or the multifunctional event hall by August 12, 2022. We kindly ask you to send us your application in digital form.
