Radio Art Zone exhibition by Mobile Radio and Radio ARA

June 18–September 25, 2022

As part of the European Capital of Culture Esch2022, Radio Art Zone is a 100-day art installation for the radio. The schedule consists of two daily programmes: newly-commissioned 22-hour radio performances made by 100 international artists and ensembles, and 2-hour lunchtime shows from local kitchens that accompany listeners with everyday cooking and discussion.

Many of the important artists from a scene that has been evolving for over 30 years on artist-led stations such as Resonance FM in London and Wave Farm/WGXC in New York are featured in the live and pre-recorded transmissions. Newcomers to radio from other disciplines, such as the visual arts, drama, music, and science, have also risen to the challenge of creating day-long artworks for transmission, allowing for a diverse spectrum of experimental production techniques, each offering a new perspective on radio.
