Application deadline: December 11, 2022

The Royal Academy Schools, a division of the prestigious Royal Academy of Arts in the heart of London, is looking for applicants for The Starr Fellowship. For one US citizen with a studio at their contemporary art school each year, this artist residency offers a 26,000 GBP scholarship to promote the growth of their practice.

In addition, through helping to support postgraduate students through the RA Schools program, the Starr Fellow will obtain teaching experience. They have access to the RA Schools’ resources, such as the in-depth Collection, Library, and Archive of the RA, as well as academic lectures and seminars, technical resources, and expertise. The artist is given the opportunity to display their work after the Fellowship has ended.

The ideal Starr Fellow will:
–Have an independently established practice, and will have taken part in exhibitions or other projects.
–Have teaching experience and an MFA or similar (desirable), or want to extend their teaching experience
–Contribute to the critique of work by first-year students through attendance at group critiques.
–Need to demonstrate a desire to use the resources at the RA Schools to further their practice.
