The Art Station, supported by the RAK Art Foundation and funded by the US Embassy in Manama, is thrilled to announce its 2024 residency program. This initiative aims to bridge cultural gaps and encourage artistic collaboration between the United States and the Kingdom of Bahrain.
Starting March 7, 2024, the residency program invites US citizens involved in writing, curating, art, design, architecture, academia, and other creative practices to apply for a transformative three-month residency in Bahrain. This exceptional opportunity offers cultural immersion and artistic development.
Residents will benefit from a range of provisions, including housing, dedicated desk space, a monthly stipend of 1,500 USD, and a substantial 5,300 USD grant for artwork production. Additionally, they will have access to The Art Station’s state-of-the-art facilities, including 3D printers, a recording studio, a fashion studio, and a photography studio equipped with a darkroom.
Engagement is a key aspect of the residency program. Residents are expected to actively engage with the Bahraini artistic community through collaborative projects, public workshops, and the development of a final project in partnership with Bahraini artists or cultural practitioners.
Applications for the residency program will be accepted from January 3 to February 10, 2024. Applicants must be over 21 years of age, hold US citizenship, and submit a well-defined proposal for conducting engaging lectures or workshops. Additionally, a project proposal outlining collaboration with one or more Bahrain-based artists is required.
Interested applicants can find the application form and detailed guidelines on The Art Station’s website at theart-station.com.
