Sharjah Architecture Triennial 2023 (SAT02) invites practitioners from around the world to submit suggestions for the exhibition design of Sharjah Architecture Triennial's second edition.

The curatorial title and theme, The Beauty of Impermanence: An Architecture of Adaptability, reflect on how scarcity has generated an innovative culture of re-use, re-appropriation, creativity, collaboration, and adaptation in the Global South. This edition will look at design ideas that offer a road to reorienting our debate about sustainability, with a focus on contextual solutions, resource sharing, and waste reuse. Exhibited work will showcase a generational awareness of circularity and embrace the idea that everything is ephemeral and subject to change and repair.

The Triennial will mostly take place in two repurposed historical buildings in Sharjah, in an effort to preserve Sharjah’s modern past and to promote the value of adaptive reuse of existing buildings.

SAT02 will also reach out to the larger community with a pair of planned site-specific projects that will engage with aspects of the social and urban fabric of neighborhoods close to the two venues.
