October 29–November 13, 2022
Opening: October 28, 6–9pm
De Ateliers presents the 17th edition of Offspring, curated by Taylor Le Melle.
Participating artists: Vicente Baeza Zúñiga, Tild Greene, Lieve Hakkers, Tash Keddy, Brigitte Louter, Sam Marshall Lockyer, mhm, mhm, Dina Mimi, Horacy Muszyński and Marcella de Wolff.
These ten people have given their work—in other words, the walls, doors, floors, and the huge space in between—the majority of their time, attention, and waking hours for the past two years. and to one another as well. A significant portion of these hours were spent discussing the restrictions of a lockdown, several institutional adjustments, and (hopefully) more discussions about their own, highly personal routines. You are now invited to an exhibition that marks the end of these two years.
De Ateliers has been using the Offspring moniker for its yearly final presentation since 2006. Participants in this exhibition, which is being held at De Ateliers’ magnificent 19th-century studios in the heart of Amsterdam, present their final pieces of two years of effort. The exhibition is curated by a guest curator each year. The curator of Offspring 2022 is author Taylor Le Melle (Amsterdam).
De Ateliers, an international artist institute in Amsterdam, founded in 1963, is generously supported by the benefactors of the Ateliers Support Fund and the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science.
