Application deadline: September 1
The second round of the Alserkal Arts Foundation’s Research Grants program, which provides individuals and groups with grants of between $5,000 and $10,000 USD for projects, is now taking applications. In the fall of 2022, up to three grants will be given out.
The program, which was introduced in 2019, is geared toward individuals and groups working in the humanities, social sciences, and arts who want to conduct study within the contexts of South Asia, West Asia, and Africa. The Foundation is currently looking for applications that show a desire to pursue intersectional and experimental research methodologies and that work to obfuscate the borders between traditional fields.
Multidisciplinary visual and sonic artists, architects, writers, self-published authors, documentary filmmakers, teachers, geographers, historians, economists, and others may be eligible for grants.
The applicant must be older than 21 and have at least five years of experience in the field in question. They must use an online application system to submit their resume, portfolio, and research project to Alserkal Arts Foundation. The deadline for submissions is September 1, 2022.
Previous Research Grant awardees included curator and independent researcher Léa Morin, multi-disciplinary designer and artist Manar Moursi, and artists Shahana Rajani and Jeanne Penjan Lassus.
Abdelmonem Bin Eisa Alserkal, Ahmad Bin Eisa Alserkal, and the Alserkal family fund the nonprofit Alserkal Arts Foundation.
