Application deadline: October 30, 2022

The Fundació Antoni Tàpies is holding an international open call to choose a new Director in order to ensure the continuation of the core goals and principles already implemented in the past, while also supervising the Fundació’s adaptation to the new demands of the moment and helping to give the organization new impetus for the future.

The Fundació Antoni Tàpies was established in 1984 by the artist Antoni Tàpies with the goal of advancing the study and understanding of modern and contemporary art. It became operational in 1990 and has the legal status of a private foundation. The new Director will oversee the preservation, analysis, and dissemination of Antoni Tàpies’ ideas and works as well as the promotion, defense, and diffusion of human spirit manifestations in general and modern art in particular in all of its varied forms. The Board exercises the authority granted to it by the Fundació’s Statutes for the governance, administration, and representation of the Fundació.

A group of specialists will thoroughly review and assess each application that is submitted. Following careful examination, this committee will propose a candidate for appointment to the Board of Trustees.

The future Director, who serves as the Fundació’s executive and creative director, will need to have experience working in museums and contemporary art spaces as well as strong leadership, negotiating, and communication abilities. While overseeing the financial management of the center, including fresh measures to boost revenue, sponsorship, and patronage, they will represent the Fundació and build networks with other organizations in order to articulate its projects. They will be familiar with the work of Antoni Tàpies, the Fundació’s history up to this point, and the larger cultural and creative scene. Evaluation will take into account the candidate’s capacity to define a diversified, innovative, and appealing future program for the Fundació as well as the assessment and diagnosis of the current situation.

Candidates must submit their Curriculum Vitae (together with clear supporting evidence) and a comprehensive statement (no longer than ten pages) that includes an analysis and diagnosis of the Fundació’s past and present trajectory as well as a summary of their suggestions for the upcoming years. On October 30, 2022, applications must be submitted.
