Tropic Bound 2023 art fair launches in Miami

Miami – Miami’s first international biennial artists’ book fair, Tropic Bound will take place between February 16 to 19, 2023.

Miami’s first international biennial artists’ book fair, Tropic Bound will take place between February 16 to 19, 2023.

Tropic Bound, Miami’s first international biannual artists’ book event, will debut this spring in the Miami Design District, displaying the particular intricacy of artists’ books. These elaborate works of art combine the realms of art, craft, and literature, expressing stories without words and representing a wide range of ethnic traditions.

Welcome day: Thursday, Feb 16, 10am–8pm
Fair day I: Friday, Feb 17, 12–6pm
Fair day II: Saturday, Feb 18, 10am–7pm
Fair day III: Sunday, Feb 19, 10am–4pm

Join Tropic Bound on a tour of Miami’s literary art hotspots, Little Haiti and Coral Gables, with unique access to special collections, galleries, independent book shops, and printmaking workshops.

Symposium, Thursday 4–6pm
Keynote speaker: Tia Blassingame, book artist, Founder of Book/Print Artist/Scholar of Color Collective and Proprietor of Primrose Press. Panel: Beyond Florida Man: the surprising depth of Miami’s literary arts landscape with John Cutrone, Director of Jaffe Center for Book Arts; P. Scott Cunningham, O, Miami Founder and Executive Director; Amy Galpin, Frost Museum of Art Chief Curator; Stephanie M. Garcia, Head of Special Collections & Archives for Miami Dade-Public Library System, and Steve Saiz, founder of Dalé Zine.

Welcome party, Thursday 6–8pm
Meet and greet with exhibitors, artists, collectors, enthusiasts, and publishers while enjoying the Miami sunset from the rooftop garden terrace.

Public fair days: Tickets here. The fair continues Friday–Sunday, February 17–19, bringing together over 60 exhibitors from across the US, Mexico, Cuba, South America, Caribbean, UK and Egypt. The fair is free and open to the public.
