Flexible, Remote Learning Experience

The Documentary Practice: Visual Storytelling Online program is ideal for photographers who seek to hone their skills in creating visual narratives and storytelling. Whether focusing on local or global issues, students will be encouraged to explore various perspectives in their work, culminating in the completion of a major documentary project. Throughout the year, they will receive feedback from peers and professors in live sessions, enhancing their creative processes.

Classes are held online via Zoom, making them accessible regardless of location. Each week, students will dedicate 8 to 10 hours to online instruction, typically conducted in two- to three-hour sessions, between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST). This flexible format allows students to engage in immersive learning while working on assignments tailored to their individual projects.

Develop Your Portfolio with Industry Experts

One of the program’s highlights is the chance to participate in ICP’s annual student portfolio review day in May 2026, where students will present their work to prominent industry professionals. This event offers valuable networking opportunities and critical feedback, helping participants elevate their documentary practice to new heights.

Students will also engage with ICP’s online educational community, which fosters connection and dialogue between peers from diverse backgrounds. By the end of the program, participants will not only have developed their unique visual voice but will also have a fully realized documentary project to share with the world.

Affordable and Accessible

To further broaden its accessibility, ICP has introduced a new, lower pricing structure for the Visual Storytelling Online program. This makes it an affordable option for photographers who want to enhance their practice without leaving their communities. The cost-effective model ensures that photographers from around the globe can partake in this unique opportunity, building essential skills in documentary photography while continuing to work and live in their home environments.

How to Apply

Applicants are encouraged to submit their applications by the priority deadline of October 20, 2024. ICP is hosting upcoming information sessions where prospective students can learn more about the program, its structure, and expectations.
