Call for applications: Foundation of Lower Saxony grant at the Edith-Russ-Haus for Media Art

Application deadline: March 1, 2023

The Foundation of Lower Saxony grant at the Edith-Russ-Haus for Media Art invites application with a deadline of March 1, 2023, 11:59pm.

The Foundation of Lower Saxony grant at the Edith-Russ-Haus for Media Art promotes a wide range of media art, from video art and web-based projects to audio works and audio-visual installations.

Each of the three awards will be used to create a new project in the field of media art.

The recipients of the grants will be chosen by an international jury.

Applicants must create a user account on this website and apply online by March 1, 2023, 11:59 p.m. (CET). Applications received after this deadline will not be considered.

The grant is only good for six months (July–December 2023). It cannot be extended, and residency is required; award winners should plan to stay in Oldenburg for at least one month.

The project or artistic piece must be completed within the six-month award period. However, an extension until April 2024 is possible.

Only artists are eligible to apply; institutions are not.

There is a limit of one application per person per year.

Individual artists and artist groups are both eligible to apply; however, the award amount is the same for both. In the case of artist groups, the applicant whose name is provided as a contact shall be held accountable for the Project.

Grant recipients can seek to stay in a furnished guest apartment if they so want.

Grant recipients are obliged to participate in Edith-Russ-Haus events such as running workshops and giving presentations and artist lectures. Such activities will be scheduled in conjunction with the Edith-Russ-Haus.

Aside from the grant of 12,500 EUR and the use of one of the guest apartments at the Edith-Russ-Haus, no additional costs will be covered during the stay (such as technical means, production means, travel expenses, and living expenses incurred during the grant period).

Only applications submitted using the online application system will be considered. Applications received by post or email, as well as any additional materials received by post or email, will be ignored and discarded.

You can submit your application in either English or German. Please provide an English translation of the application summary with German applications, as the jury will comprise international participation.

When an applicant receives confirmation through email, the application is considered accepted. The applicant will not receive an email confirmation if the application does not meet the standards.

The Edith-Russ-Haus and the jury reserve the right to reject applications that do not meet the aforementioned standards.

The Edith-Russ-Haus will treat all information submitted with the utmost care. The information and documentation you provide will only be used to process your application. Applicants consent to the Edith-Russ-Haus contacting them at the email address indicated in their application. Following the selection procedure, the jury’s decision will be made public online. This is scheduled to happen by mid-June 2023 at the latest.

Awardees will be notified via email and regular mail at the addresses specified in their applications. No notifications will be provided to unsuccessful candidates. We ask that candidates refrain from contacting us after the deadline with questions about the completeness of their submissions or for updates on the evaluation process. Unfortunately, we do not have the resources to respond to these inquiries.
