Call for applications to Jan van Eyck Academie

Application deadline: December 1, 2022

The Jan van Eyck Academie in Maastricht, the Netherlands, is accepting applications for an 11-month residence program beginning in November 2023 from artists, designers, architects, curators, and writers.

In response to the climate catastrophe, environmental breakdown, and their numerous impacts, the Jan van Eyck Academie is dedicated to examining the agency, roles, and civic relevance of art, design, and other creative disciplines. This institutional orientation facilitates a broad discourse, builds a framework that accepts a variety of methods, and gives room for many voices.

The Jan van Eyck Academie supports a variety of artistic endeavors as a post-academic institution by giving participants the time, space, and knowledge to further develop, materialize, and disseminate their artistic research in a critical and reciprocal relationship with one another and the outside world.

A private studio, advice from our advisers, access to our library and labs—Photography & Audiovisual, Material Matters, Food, Printing & Publishing, and Future Materials—as well as the knowledge of the departments for Nature Research, Art & Society, and Research & Education—are all provided to each chosen participant. Participants are encouraged to collaborate on an In-Lab project and add to the Jan van Eyck public program in addition to working on their own projects.
