Glasgow International is happy to announce that the festival’s next run will be held from Friday, June 7 through Sunday, June 23, 2024.
Prior to that, we are now accepting applicants for the position of Festival Director, who will guide the festival through its following iteration.
With the help of the Glasgow community of contemporary visual artists, stakeholders, and partners, GI will play a key role in the ongoing consultation process to realize the goals of Scotland’s biennial festival of contemporary visual art. One of the first live festivals to take place in Scotland after the 2021 shutdown was Glasgow International 2021, which gave fans a much-needed chance to reconnect with top-tier contemporary visual art. The GI program in June 2021 included over 100 artists’ works in 70 exhibitions, activities, performances, and discussions at over 30 locations throughout the city and online. It resulted in widespread press coverage in the UK and numerous favorable reviews.
The largest contemporary art festival in Scotland, Glasgow International, runs for three weeks around Glasgow. The festival, which is renowned as a hub for contemporary art, capitalizes on the city’s advantages as a thriving and distinctive hub for artistic production and display. One of the most unique events in the European cultural calendar, GI combines the traits of a visual arts biennial with an open submission methodology for artists and curators located in the city.
Glasgow Life, the nonprofit organization that provides cultural and sport on behalf of Glasgow City Council, manages Glasgow International, a Creative Scotland Regularly Funded Organization (RFO).
