Artists from all over the world deal with the legacies of modernity and the resultant condition of planetary emergency at the 12th Berlin Biennale for Contemporary Art, titled Still Present! In addition to their paintings, the show includes historical records from the Archiv der Avantgarden—Egidio Marzona, such as political and activist publications (AdA). The contributions show how colonialism, fascism, and imperialism are linked, and propose future decolonial solutions based on a series of questions: What can be done to shape a decolonial ecology? In the reappropriation of historical narratives, what role might non-Western feminist groups play? How can the restitution debate be expanded beyond the restoration of looted goods? Is it possible to reclaim the sphere of emotion through art?
Kader Attia, in association with Ana Teixeira Pinto, Tng Linh, Marie Helene Pereira, Noam Segal, and Rasha Salti, will curate the 12th Berlin Biennale, which will run from June 11 to September 18, 2022.

The 12th Berlin Biennale’s exhibition is supported by a public program. A series of conferences will explore how colonialism and imperialism continue to operate in the present, in addition to thematic tours, workshops, performances, and film screenings.
