The Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) has officially announced its 2024 programming lineup, promising a dynamic array of global cinematic talent. Taking place from September 5–15, 2024, TIFF continues its mission to transform how people see the world through film. This year’s festival features a broad selection of world premieres, international debuts, and a celebration of cinematic milestones.

TIFF 2024 will showcase over 60 films across various categories, ranging from major world premieres to anniversary screenings. Notable titles include “Dahomey” by Mati Diop (North American Premiere), “On Swift Horses” by Daniel Minahan (World Premiere), and “The Room Next Door” by Pedro Almodóvar (North American Premiere). Alongside these debuts, the festival will celebrate the 30th anniversary of Mina Shum’s Double Happiness and the 10th anniversary of Damien Chazelle’s Whiplash. Festival also includes Francis Ford Coppola’s wildly ambitious and excessive “Megalopolis,” starring Adam Driver and Nathalie Emmanuel.

One of the festival’s centerpieces is a retrospective on the illustrious career of Spanish auteur Pedro Almodóvar. This special event, hosted at TIFF Lightbox in November, will honor his contributions to global cinema with a Marquee celebration .

TIFF 2024’s programming highlights include world premieres from directors like Warwick Thornton, Tony Goldwyn, and Alice Rohrwacher. Films like “Paul Anka: His Way” and “The Luckiest Man in America” will also be making their global debut. Beyond premieres, the festival continues to provide a platform for short films, showcasing fresh talent from around the world in its Short Cuts programme.

The festival’s programming goes beyond traditional films, emphasizing inclusivity and a diverse range of voices. TIFF has made a concerted effort to reflect the multifaceted nature of Canadian and global communities, underscoring its dedication to a film culture that includes underrepresented perspectives.

Tickets for TIFF 2024 are available to TIFF Members starting August 16, with general public sales beginning August 26. The festival’s full schedule and lineup can be explored at tiff.net.
