The most comprehensive chronological art exhibition in Italy, miart, organized by Fiera Milano and directed for the third year by Nicola Ricciardi, is divided into three sections: Established, Decades, and Emergent. It gives Italian and foreign collectors the chance to learn about masterpieces from the early twentieth century as well as works by the most recent generations and collectible design.

With the Emergent area located at the entrance of the exhibition, allowing young galleries to engage with a wider public, the allocation of spaces explored in 2022 will be confirmed for the following year. The online platform miart digital, which aims to deepen and broaden the conversation and connections between gallerists and collectors, will complement the actual event.

Miart 2023 follows the tradition of musical metaphors defining the identity of the next edition on and around the term “Crescendo,” following Dismantling the silence in 2021 and Primo movimento in 2022. Technically speaking, the term refers to a gradual increase in the volume of sound in a composition; however, in this context, it also refers to the improvement in the previous two editions in terms of quality, participation, and audience, and it expresses the desire to maintain this upward trend in the years to come.

Crescendo also references to nature and the imperative pursuit of sustainable development, highlighting miart’s dedication to environmentally friendly practices and its role as a founder member and ardent supporter of Gallery Climate Coalition Italy.

As per tradition, miart will be the catalyst for the Milano Art Week, an intense program of special events and grand openings organized in conjunction with the Municipality of Milan and in collaboration with the major public and private institutions in the city, including Pirelli HangarBicocca, Fondazione Prada, Triennale Milano, Palazzo Reale, Museo del Novecento, PAC – Padiglione d’Arte ContemporaneaGalleria d’Arte Moderna, and many more.

In addition, the elite invitees will have a unique reception and a first-rate experience thanks to the MIART VIP program. VIP attendees will have access to private tours and receptions at some of Milan’s most prestigious estates and collections during the fair’s week, as well as sneak peeks at Milan Design Week, the largest annual design event in the world, which will take place from April 17 to 23, 2023. VIP guests will network with a network of international artists and connoisseurs and engage in conversations with them.
