CAMERA and FUTURES present On the Verge

November 4, 2022–January 8, 2023

From November 4, 2022, through January 8, 2023, CAMERA – Centro Italiano per la Fotografia in Turin will host the new exhibition On the Verge. Over 70 works created by seven young photographers chosen from the FUTURES Photography network—of which CAMERA is the only Italian representative among the network’s roughly 20 European partners—are included in a group exhibition exploring the major issues of our day.

The works presented by Cian Burke (Ireland, 1978), Mark Duffy (Ireland, 1981), Pauline Hisbacq (France, 1980), Julia Klewaniec (Poland, 1996), Alice Pallot (France, 1995), Daniel Szalai (Hungary, 1991), and Ugo Woatzi (France, 1991) tell individual and group narratives about conflicts, battles for gender equality, struggles for food and ecological sustainability, and the emergence of populism These works represent the most cutting-edge and pertinent experiences in the current European photography landscape, both from an aesthetic perspective and in terms of photographic languages.

On the Verge is a part of the extensive schedule of the Annual Event, which is annually proposed by the European FUTURES platform and will take place this year in Turin, Italy.From November 4 to 6, CAMERA will in fact serve as the hub of a busy schedule of events involving not only 100 young photographers and artists from across Europe and 20 curators, but also out-of-the-region visitors like artists Laia Abril (Spain), Tayio Onorato and Nico Krebs (Switzerland), and Max Pinckers (Belgium), as well as curators Julija Reklait (Lithuania, director of Rupert, Last but not least, this three-day event will provide a variety of aperitifs, DJ sets, and musical performances, all themed around modern photography and visual study.
