Art Athina, Greece’s most prestigious art event and one of Europe’s oldest art fairs, is gearing up for its 2024 edition, scheduled from September 19 to 23. Hosted at the historic Zappeion Mansion in Athens, a site integral to Greek cultural heritage, this year’s event promises to be a significant gathering for the global art community.

Celebrating over three decades of influence, Art Athina continues to serve as a vibrant meeting point for artists, galleries, collectors, and art enthusiasts. Organized by the Hellenic Art Galleries Association, the fair is known for its diversity and its commitment to fostering dialogue between Greek and international art communities. Each year, the event attracts thousands of visitors, with attendance numbers growing steadily.

Under the leadership of Director Antonis Kourkoulos, Art Athina has built a strong reputation for quality and innovation. The fair’s success is bolstered by strategic partnerships with renowned art professionals, including the newly appointed Development Director, Marilena Koutsoukou, who will spearhead strategic alliances. The award-winning G Design Studio is responsible for crafting the fair’s visual identity, adding a fresh, modern aesthetic to this year’s edition.

Art Athina 2024 will feature more than 70 participants in its core Main sector, showcasing a diverse array of local and international galleries. The fair’s parallel programming is equally dynamic, offering a range of experiences:

  • Design Sector: Curated by Tina Daskalantonaki and Manthos Kaloumenos from Mare Studio, this section will present contemporary collectible designs.
  • Projects: This segment will highlight independent art spaces, curated by Loukia Thomopoulou.
  • Talks: Curated by Olympia Tzortzi, this series will bring together distinguished guests to explore the intricacies of the gallery system.
  • Video: Panos Gannikopoulos curates this section, which will feature cutting-edge visual media.
  • Performance: For the first time, Art Athina will introduce a performance segment, curated by Nicolas Vamvouklis, showcasing innovative works to visitors.
  • Kid’s Educational Program: Conceived by KROMA, a non-profit international organization, this program will engage children and teenagers in contemporary art through educational activities.

The fair’s lineup includes a diverse group of exhibitors, ranging from established galleries like Bernier/Eliades Gallery and Kalfayan Galleries to international participants such as Arusha Gallery from the UK and GALERIE LJ from France. The Project Spaces and Design sectors will also feature a range of innovative art spaces and galleries, highlighting the fair’s commitment to presenting cutting-edge contemporary art.

Art Athina 2024 is produced by BeBest and has been included in the Regional Program “Attica 2021–2027,” ensuring continued support and development for the arts in Greece. The fair remains a cornerstone of the Greek art scene, maintaining its status as a crucial platform for artistic exchange and cultural dialogue.
