2024 ARKO Art Center & OnCurating international collaborative exhibition
September 26–November 3, 2024

The 2024 ARKO Art Center & OnCurating international collaborative exhibition Into the Rhythm: From Score to Contact Zone merges the worlds of rhythm, art, and human connection. The exhibition is co-curated by ARKO Art Center (Korea) and OnCurating (Switzerland) and runs from September 26 to November 3, 2024. This unique display invites audiences to view the museum as a dynamic “contact zone,” where music, bodies, and shared rhythms create a sense of communal solidarity.

The show focuses on rhythm not only as a physical force governing our hearts and breath but also as an energy that circulates within communities. Participating artists disrupt the repetitive patterns of daily life, offering fresh perspectives on interaction, movement, and connection through their works. With over 11 artists, the exhibition encourages visitors to break free from capitalist notions of time and space, fostering more conscious and engaged participation with the artworks on display.

During Workshop Week, from September 26 to 29, visitors are invited to actively engage in performances, sound works, and discussions led by artists. The festival-like immersion aims to facilitate new connections, challenging the passive consumption of art. This communal engagement reflects the exhibition’s core idea: the museum as a place for shared experiences, where people come together, not just as spectators but as active participants.

The exhibition’s curators, Jade Keunhye Lim and Haena Noh (ARKO) alongside Dorothee Richter and Ronald Kolb (OnCurating), present a narrative where contemporary art becomes a shared space of rhythm, experience, and human connection. The collaboration between the curators and the artists cultivates opportunities for communal dialogue, promoting a more inclusive, active, and participatory cultural engagement.
