ToggleSupporting Emerging Artists
The Braunschweig Projects scholarships are part of a broader effort by HBK Braunschweig to nurture and promote emerging talent in the arts. The selected artists will have the opportunity to work closely with a mentor—chosen from the university’s faculty of fine arts—ensuring that their projects are guided by experienced professionals. This collaboration is intended to foster the artists’ growth and contribute significantly to the evolution of their artistic practices.
Scholarship Details
Each scholarship provides a monthly stipend of 1,400 EUR for a period of 12 months, beginning on April 1, 2025. During this time, recipients are required to spend at least eight months at the university, ensuring that they fully engage with the academic and artistic community at HBK Braunschweig. In addition to the monthly stipend, recipients will receive an allowance for project and travel costs, with the final distribution determined in consultation with their mentors.
Furthermore, each scholarship holder will be provided with a rent-free studio apartment in Braunschweig, designed for single occupancy, in exchange for a nominal fee of 150 EUR per month to cover incidental rental costs. This arrangement ensures that artists can focus entirely on their creative work without the burden of housing expenses.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have completed an art degree, with their most recent studies completed between April 1, 2014, and April 1, 2021. Additionally, they must demonstrate extensive artistic practice and have participated in exhibitions. It is important to note that candidates receiving regular benefits from other sources, such as salaries or work scholarships, are not eligible for this scholarship during the funding period.
Application Process
Applications can be submitted in German or English and must be sent via email by October 18, 2024. The application must include a completed and signed application form, a portfolio of artistic work, and a copy of the applicant’s most recent degree certificate. Applications that do not meet these requirements will not be considered.
This scholarship program provides a unique opportunity for emerging artists to immerse themselves in an academic environment while developing their artistic practices. It also fosters a collaborative spirit, as recipients will engage with university mentors and peers, enhancing their creative journey.
