ArkDes presents Tham & Videgård - On: Architecture from November 11, 2022 to August 27, 2023.
Tham & Videgård is one of Sweden’s most notable and unusual architectural studios, having produced projects that have come to signal a new approach in 21st Century Swedish Architecture. On: Architecture is a full-scale spatial experience of models, fresh photography, and videos placed within a one-of-a-kind glass ground. The show, which presents the studio’s work in its entirety for the first time, provides a deeper knowledge of the contemporary architecture that influences our cities and living surroundings today.
Tham and Videgård‘s desire to spark a conversation about architecture that is, to them, in the shadows inspired the exhibition’s title, On: Architecture. Building on a Swedish architectural discourse that frequently misses basic issues, the show highlights features of the studio’s work in order to throw light on other fundamental aspects of architecture.
The artwork at ArkDes is made up of 432 square meters of glass surface: a gathering space, similar to a town square, that may be utilized for reflection and conversation, as well as events related to contemporary architecture and its function in society. The environment immerses you in a full-scale architectural experience.
Tham & Videgård Architects
Tham & Videgård are internationally recognized, award-winning architects that create one-of-a-kind structures at various scales. Bolle Tham (b. 1970) and Martin Videgård (b. 1968) founded the studio in 1999 out of a desire to deal with architecture that they believed was lacking in Sweden. Their goal is to test new ideas and methodologies and then implement them in built projects.
