The Forest Festival of the Arts Okayama: Clear-skies Country will be held from September 28 to November 24, 2024, across five areas of Okayama Prefecture, Japan. Led by art director Yuko Hasegawa, the festival emphasizes the relationship between nature and humanity, offering a blend of art and ecological reflection. It features contributions from 40 artists, with site-specific projects in forests, waterfalls, hot springs, and other natural sites, showcasing a harmonious blend of creativity and the environment.
This international event integrates the local community, experts, and artists to foster a new vision of neo-capitalism and sustainability. The festival will feature immersive experiences, such as Anri Sala’s sound and light installations in caverns, and the collaboration between NINAGAWA Mika and EiM that reimagines natural spaces as crimson nirvanas.
Notably, the festival goes beyond visual art, encompassing culinary projects by local award-winning chefs and installations that transform historical sites into spaces of artistic dialogue.
