The Bergen School of Architecture (BAS) is excited to announce several new teaching positions available for the upcoming academic terms of Fall 2025 and Spring 2026. These positions, fixed for a six-year term, offer a unique opportunity for experienced professionals in the fields of Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Visual Art, and Architectural Theory & Writing to contribute to an innovative educational environment that emphasizes both traditional and alternative approaches to architectural practice.
Diverse Teaching Opportunities
BAS is seeking active practitioners with a strong commitment to teaching and an explorative approach to their discipline. These positions range between 30% and 50% time commitments, allowing professionals to continue their practice while engaging with the next generation of architects and designers. The school values applicants who bring a comprehensive understanding of architectural practice, a dedication to sustainability, and a deep connection to the ecological and cultural contexts of their work.
Positions Available
- Architecture (2–4 Positions):
- Focus: Architectural design, working with existing buildings, structural principles, alternative building materials, urbanism.
- Requirements: Extensive experience in architectural design, realization of projects, and an understanding of contemporary issues in architecture.
- Landscape Architecture (1 Position):
- Focus: Landscape urbanism, ecological systems, biodiversity.
- Requirements: Solid experience in design-oriented landscape architecture, with an emphasis on the unique West Nordic and coastal conditions of the region.
- Visual Art (1–3 Positions):
- Focus: Artistic explorations related to architectural practice, materialities, and political contexts.
- Requirements: Experienced artists interested in engaging with architectural education and expanding the creative processes of students.
- Architectural Theory & Writing (1 Position):
- Focus: Coordination and development of theory and writing within the curriculum, establishing a seminar culture.
- Requirements: Extensive experience in discursive and creative work with theory in relation to architectural practice. Experience in funding applications and publications is an advantage.
