Collezione Maramotti is glad to announce the opening of two new exhibitions: The Age/L’Età by Emma Talbot and Mirages by Jenna Gribbon.
After having her new body of work premiere at Whitechapel Gallery in London, Emma Talbot, winner of the seventh Max Mara Art Prize for Women, will display it at Collezione Maramotti. The Age/L’Età is a new body of work that addresses themes of representation and aging, authority and government, and attitudes toward nature. It consists of animation, free-hanging painted silk panels, three-dimensional pieces, and drawings. In his vision of the future, Talbot places humanity in a situation where it must turn to more primitive and holistic methods of making and belonging in order to live. These ways would rethink traditional power systems and appreciate the natural world.
American painter Jenna Gribbon‘s solo exhibition, Mirages, is her first in a European art gallery. She created a new series of ten paintings especially for Collezione’s Pattern Room. Each of Gribbon’s figurative paintings effortlessly combines several styles while drawing inspiration from everyday experience, art history, and personal memories. The artist’s partner, musician Mackenzie Scott, serves as the exhibition’s main topic (aka TORRES). A figure that is mirrored, molded, explored, and made larger than life is depicted in Gribbon’s protagonist in vibrant colors and fluid, sensual brushstrokes that almost make the surroundings blend with her body. This is an experiment in scale and composition for the artist.
