Application deadline: September 13, 2022, 12am
Artists of all disciplines can access fellowship assistance from wherever. As of right present, applications are being accepted till September 13, 2022.
The Princeton Arts Fellowships, which are supported in part by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, David E. Kelley Society of Fellows in the Arts, and Maurice R. Greenberg Scholarship Fund, will be given to creatives whose work has been deemed to show extraordinary promise in any field of artistic practice and instruction. Early-career composers, conductors, musicians, choreographers, visual artists, filmmakers, poets, novelists, playwrights, designers, directors, and performance artists—though this list is not intended to be exhaustive—who would benefit from spending two years teaching and working in an artistically active university community—should apply.
Formal teaching is anticipated for the two academic years that the Princeton Arts Fellows are enrolled at Princeton University (September 1 through July 1). Normally, fellows will be expected to teach one course per semester with the Dean of the Faculty’s agreement, but they may be asked to take on an artistic task instead of a class, like directing a play or choreographing a dance alongside students. Despite the reduced teaching load, we nonetheless expect Fellows to be involved, complete members of our community who regularly contact with students throughout the academic year.
A stipend of 88,000 USD per year is offered. Fellowships are not meant to support research leading to a higher degree. To apply, one need not be a citizen of the US. Princeton PhD holders are not eligible to submit an application.
To apply, include a curriculum vitae, the names and numbers of three references (please do not ask for or arrange for references to send letters in advance of a request from the search committee), and work examples (i.e., a writing sample, images of your work, video links to performances, etc.). Please also submit a 750-word proposal outlining your plans for the two years of the fellowship, your plans to engage in teaching and/or production in Princeton’s arts community, and how you have promoted diversity and inclusion in your artistic practice, research, and/or teaching.
Please apply for the Princeton Arts Fellowship online by September 13, 2022 at 11:59pm ET here. Applicants can only apply for the Princeton Arts Fellowship twice in a lifetime.
