Baukunst presents Tendency & Fact

October 1–30, 2022

Opening: October 1, 5–8pm

Lecture: October 11, 7–8:30pm
CCB, Garagem Sul-Architecture Exhibitions, Lisbon

The interaction between the city and the prototype is the focus of the exhibition Tendency and Fact, which borrows a phrase from Andre Leroi-Gourhan. City and prototype, as manifestations of tendency and reality, let us comprehend architecture as a device made up of both the material and the immaterial, the constructed and the unbuilt, and the human and non-human. These relationships are investigated through the apparent and intangible consequences of architecture, inspiring thought on the interaction between energy, material, and our methods of perceiving them.

Recent initiatives from the EPFL office and research studio will construct a constellation that calls into question the built environment’s performativity and its influence on people—people who we typically think of as not being us. Through the interaction between city and prototype, trend and fact, the exhibition is designed as an effort to discover a new sensibility of how we view and understand architecture and energy.
