“Queer Trust” is a mindset that pulls from and depends on the in-between. It serves as the foundation for Protozone8 and has shaped the work at Shedhalle since 2020 as a venue for process-based art. The exhibition displays creative products and methods of production that place a high value on interactions and non-linear processes. The participating artists exhibit private, open, brave, and vulnerable work. They achieve this by challenging social, scientific, artistic, and gendered classifications and traditions.

Among other things, the term “queer” refers to the ambiguous and the open. In this sense, the phrase encompasses more than just gender and sexual orientation. It is the cornerstone of a mindset that insists on a “in-between,” a plurality of opinions, and perpetual change.

“Queer” is combined with the word “Trust” in Protozone8. The basis that supports constant change and non-fixation is trust in artistic processes and relationships with other artists. Working in the art gallery Shedhalle is only made feasible because of this. The guests who are welcomed into this area of fluid transitions are likewise given a measure of trust. To trust the liminal area is to practice queer trust.

Protozone8: Queer Trust is created and coordinated in collaboration with the involved artists. Queer Trust develops venues for the exhibition of works as well as chances for gatherings, novel encounters, and education in collaboration with the visitors.
