Launch of the MA in Visual Arts and Curatorial studies at Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti in Rome

June 24–July 14, 2022

The Visual Arts and Curatorial Studies MA has begun classes in Rome, and NABA, Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti, is pleased to announce its opening.

The MA program was started in Milan in 2006 and combines a thorough education in artistic production with extremely skilled curatorial practice. The curriculum examines the connection between art, visual culture, aesthetics, and social dynamics, focusing on the primary research and theoretical techniques of contemporary art and being directed by internationally renowned artists, curators, critics, and intellectuals. Students will be encouraged to develop a strong interdisciplinary approach, critical thinking, as well as to embrace new educational and operating models within the field of contemporary art given the solid positioning of the NABA Visual Arts Department within the contemporary art system and its international team.

A scholarship covering the full tuition costs to enroll in the two-year Master of Arts program in Visual Arts and Curatorial Studies will be offered by NABA to one highly motivated and talented young person as part of its promotion of the recently established MA program in Rome, beginning in October 2022. The scholarship will be given after a portfolio, motivational letter, and resume review of the applicants. A global jury made up of Andrea Bellini (Director, Centre d’Art Contemporain, Genève), Cristiana Collu (Director, Galleria Nazionale d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea, Rome), Hou Hanru (Art Curator and Artistic Director, MAXXI, Rome), Marco Scotini (Visual Arts Department Head, NABA, Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti), and Kathryn Weir will evaluate (Director, MADRE, Naples).
