something new, something old, something desired at Hamburger Kunsthalle

February 18, 2022–February 18, 2024

something new, something old, something desired is a large-scale installation that explores contemporary issues such as communication and understanding, isolation and marginalisation, power and protest, utopia and structure. The exhibition also looks at how architectural designs mirror (virtual) worlds and realities, explores the conflict between form and dissolution, and underlines the potential hidden in the interaction of material and language. As the title suggests, the show casts new light on important works from the collection in conversation with young contemporary art, while many new acquisitions and excellent gifts to the collection are displayed for the first time, with appealing works woven throughout.
